Again and again the catalogue asks a short thing: why did you come if you would not stay?
Mere Shyam Aap Aaye says it outright. Binu Gopal says it as a grove that has turned enemy. Madhurashtakam does not ask — it only lists sweetness — which is another way of saying the same hunger.
A songwriter does not need a new question every year. He needs to ask the old one without dressing it up.
